Meat and greet at Fairburn Hall

-

Friends, neighbours and supporters of the Fairburn Community Hall have been invited to this year’s ‘Meet the Neighbours’ barbecue for Sunday lunch.

“This year we are going to put up a braai, so we’ll burn some wood and [hopefully won’t] burn some meat,” hall chairman Peter Niepel said.

“We’ll bring the braai, put up a gazebo and throw some hay bales on to the lawn to sit on.

“All you have to do is bring some meat and sausages, a salad to share if you feel like it, something to keep yourself well hydrated and have a good time.

“It is always a great day to hang out, have some very intelligent conversations about fishing, rugby and too much/too little rain etc. Just the stuff rural folk talk about when they have a good time. We have some games in mind for the old and the young kids too.”

It will all start at noon, no charge, BYO. There will also be a swap table, from which people will be free to take whatever they like, as long as they replace it with something else.

“That can be fruit, pickles, home-made jam, flowers etc. Doesn’t matter,” Peter added.

“If you don’t have anything to share we’ll put up a donation box and you can share some of your money. Just to keep it easy.”
