Big day for graduates
About 250 NorthTec graduates march through Whangarei tomorrow to celebrate completing their diplomas, degrees and graduate diplomas.
There are two ceremonies at Forum North, at 10am and 2pm, the first for graduates in business and management, information systems and software development, applied social services, cookery, architectural technology and civil engineering.
The afternoon ceremony is for those who have qualified in applied arts, applied writing, sport and recreation, conservation and environmental management, science, Ma¯ori arts and nursing.
The march, between the ceremonies, leaves the Rose Gardens in Water Street at 1pm, following the traditional route along Vine Street, Quality Street, Cameron Street and Rust Avenue, finishing at Forum North.
The student valedictorian will be Heleina Garisau, a Bachelor of Ma¯ori Arts (Maunga Kura Toi).
