The Kaitaia Floral Art Club’s first club day of the year challenged members to interpret A Moment in Time .

The aim was still life, with plant material and inanimate objects used to form a unified display of rhythmic forms, textures and colours, with plant material subordinate.

Components as disparate as a cup and saucer, grapes and kina shells were arranged to relate to each other or a theme, either period, traditional or contem- porary.

President Raewyn Harrison demonstrated this month’s European mass design, and Pat McKenzie showed members how to incorporate candles into a design.

The next club day is Monday March 26, at the Cornerstone Church in Kaitaia on the corner of Matthews’ Ave and Watt Street, 10am-2pm. Newcomers are welcome.

Raewyn Pennell said the current crop of novices were showing great promise.

Phone president Raewyn Harrison on (09) 409-4959 for further details.
