Michelle Wedding (holding rod, third from back right) celebrates with family and friends after claiming one of the two major cash prizes of $10,000 up for grabs in the 2018 Houhora One Base after reeling in this 222.2kg blue marlin last Thursday. Her boat Giovanni also won the team prize while Marty Doody won the Ellis-Utting Trophy for being the skipper of the boat which produced the event’s heaviest billfish. It wasn’t the most memorable One Base in the club’s history with very few fish of note while conditions out at sea were uncomfortable for many. Report to come.
