Woman rescued

A woman from the Philippines had to rescued from Waitangi Forest after getting lost during a cycle trip from Cape Reinga to Christchurch. The 50-year-old nurse, who works in Christchurch, was trying to cycle from Kerikeri to Paihia on Saturday using a route she had found on Google maps. She entered the forest at Furness Rd and called 111 on her cellphone when she became lost. Police and volunteers from Far North Search and Rescue located her safe and well about 7.40pm. Due to fading light her bike and saddlebags were left behind overnight and retrieved on Sunday.
