19 women turn out to contest Cossack Cup

-

KAITAIA LADIES. There was a great turnout of 19 ladies to play the first round of the Cossack Cup last Wednesday, March 14 where a haggle was held for those who did not wish to play in the cup.

Eight matches were played in great conditions while a couple of light showers did not hinder either spirit or quality of golf.

Winners to progress through to the second round are Lorna Subritzky, Marj Duncan, Fay Patterson, Sandy Jo, Lesley Masters, Noeleen Robson, Rosaleen Steed, and Linda Lunjevich.

After play, tomorrow’s Wednesday ladies will get stuck into pulling weeds and applying mulch to the clubhouse gardens so those planning to be there were advised to bring gloves and buckets.

In other news from the Kaitaia club, vets golf was cancelled on Monday last week, March 12 due to the weather forecast.

WHANGAROA. There was not much recent news from the Whangaroa Golf Club, where the focus was on mourning the passing of much loved greenkeeper David Sherman who lost his battle with cancer last week.
