Kinnear twins take out Galvin Shield
The two dozen players contesting the annual Galvin Shield open pairs tournament at the Kaitaia Church Rd Bowling Club recently enjoyed calm weather conditions with plenty of cloud cover.
Players in the field of 12 teams taking part in the annual Bells Produce tournament used three bowls each for the four games of one hour, played on a well prepared green in a relaxed environment.
The trophy, which had been first presented in 1993, was on display with the various successful winners names from over the years engraved on it. Four teams won all their games with ends and points proving the deciding factors.
President John Richardson presented sponsor’s vouchers to the top placegetters who were, Barrie Kinnear (skip) and Alex Kinnear 4 wins, 26 ends, 60 points, 1; Paul Burren and Adele Gardner 4, 23, 44, (and a differential of 20 points) 2; Dave Roughton and Dennis Latimer 4, 23, 44 (diff 23), 3.
