Cham­pi­ons crowned at Houhora

The Houhora Bowl­ing Club be­gan its re­sults round up for the sum­mer sea­son with the do­mes­tic cham­pi­onship ti­tle win­ners who were, men’s sin­gles: Bar­rie Kin­n­ear, pairs: B Kin­n­ear and Brian Bel­las, triples: B Bel­las, Rus­sell Hock­ley and Dou­glas Man­sill, and, fours: Mike Housham, B Kin­n­ear, Roger Leef and Tony Mi­rando; and ladies sin­gles: Chris­tine Strat­ton (beat­ing Joanne Milich).

In other news, re­sults from the Cow­ley’s Hire (any com­bi­na­tion fours) played in early Fe­bru­ary were, Cedric Camp­bell, Paul and Linda Fowlie and Joanne Milich. 4 wins 25 ends and 52 points, 1; Tupu Camp­bell, Paul Huxtable, Cabby Camp­bell and Donny Holmes 4, 21, 51, 2; Kevin Briscoe, Bill Clode, Ch­ester and Rose Timoko 3.5, 19, n/a, 3. Or­gan­is­ers thanked the event’s ma­jor spon­sors for their on­go­ing sup­port.

In much more be­lated re­sults, the win­ners of the an­nual twi­light bowls so­cial com­pe­ti­tion last De­cem­ber were Mary Ashby, Ivy Wiki and Mike Vu­j­cich. Keen ri­valry and ca­ma­raderie be­tween com­peti­tors made for a fun com­pe­ti­tion and one likely to be re­peated next year.

Else­where, the win­ners of the Christ­mas Fare any com­bi­na­tion triples event were Kenny Mokaraka, Rose Timoko and Marge Milich, run­ners-up were Den­nis Latimer, Mary Ashby and Chris­tine Strat­ton, with Faye Mala­mate­nious, Terry Mul­lane and Diane Brake third.

A re­port from the club’s ma­jor Kaimoana Fours (each team fea­tur­ing two men and two women) played last Satur­day is forth­com­ing. COM­ING UP. The end of sea­son clos­ing day tour­na­ment is set to take place on Mon­day, April 9, as an any com­bi­na­tion triples af­fair.
