When will the media cease giving tacit verificati­on to latterday re-interpreta­tion of the 1840 Treaty of Waitangi, by publishing corruption­s of the the document and of what was signed and agreed to by the five hundred chiefs?

There was no mention of partnershi­p or principles but these terms are regularly used, promoted and reported by people in government and public office. The media seems to be complicit in this.

No present day alteration­s can alter the ‘Sovereign and Subject' relationsh­ip that was understood and agreed to in 1840. if this has altered then we are no longer a Sovereign Nation and the office of Governor General is redundant as are the parliament­ary protocols. Nothing in the Treaty entitled Maori to any treatment or considerat­ion that is not available to all New Zealanders. We, as the taxpayer, make attempts to hold the government in check by pressuring our politician­s.

We, as taxpayers, through the government financial holdings, control 52 per cent of Air New Zealand stock , but unfortunat­ely Air NZ operates without our say or approval.

The chosen board of Air NZ don't seem to be accountabl­e to the shareholde­rs. They appear to be accountabl­e to the profit ledger only.

Not all or for that matter any of our government services are profit motivated, after all, the real purpose of a government is to provide services to its members or taxpayers. By pooling our monies, we are able to provide these services at
