Ngapuhi appoints new chief executive
The board of trustees of Te Ru¯nanga-A¯-Iwi-O Nga¯puhi has appointed Tai Tokerau executive Lorraine Toki as Te Tumuhere (CEO) of the ru¯ nanga.
She will take up the position on Monday.
Mrs Toki (Nga¯puhi) is a consultant and lead advisor to a number of national iwi Ma¯ori organisations.
Previously she held executive positions at the Crown Forestry Rental Trust and Tu¯horonuku Independent Mandated Authority, the entity mandated to progress Te Tiriti o Waitangi settlement negotiations on behalf of Nga¯puhi.
A graduate of the University of Auckland, she holds a Master’s degree in management and a post-graduate diploma in Business — Ma¯ori Development.
Ru¯nanga chairman Raniera Tau said she would bring excellent senior management credentials to the role. Her career had been committed to Nga¯puhi kaupapa and Te Tai Tokerau, and had always at the forefront of initiatives to progress her people.
“The board is delighted with this appointment. We look forward to Lorraine leading our operations team, enhancing performance and developing new initiatives that ensure a brighter future for all our Nga¯puhi communities,” he said.
Mrs Toki said she was immensely proud and humbled to be appointed to lead the organisation.
“These are exciting times for Nga¯puhi. Our future has challenges and opportunities ahead of us, and I look forward to leading a talented team toward that future,” she said.
