Guess who pays

The Northland Age - - Local News -

The Government’s decision to end offshore exploration for oil and gas will cost New Zealand at least $6.2 billion, according to documents released during election negotiations. So ACT leader David Seymour said, adding that “this PR stunt” would leave each household at least $4000 a year worse off. “But that’s not the full extent of it,” he said. “The cost to New Zealanders is likely to be much higher because these figures don’t include the benefits of new discoveries of oil and gas. Nor do they take into account the full impact of lost employment, or the costs of lower security of energy supply and alternative energy sources.”
