‘Rock solid’ manager on the move
Kerikeri Retirement Village is about to lose its long-serving clinical manager, Jan Bennenbroek, who will leave the North at the end of July. Advertising for her successor closes next week, in the hope of interviewing candidates by midMay.
Chief executive Hilary Sumpter said Ms Bennenbroek had worked at the Village for 15 years, and as clinical manager for 11 of those years. She would be missed hugely, and would be a tough act to follow.
“Jan is a rock solid clinical manager who is respected immensely by our board of trustees, our management team, our residents and their families,” Ms Sumpter said.
“She has overseen significant enhancements in our clinical abilities, and been a driving force behind the stellar rest home certifications we have received in recent years from the Ministry of Health.”
Her successor as clinical manager would face an array of professional challenges, including a significant increase in the number of elderly people in the district requiring aged care.
Right across the country retirement villages and aged care facilities were bracing themselves for the greatest wave of retirees ever seen, Ms Sumpter said.
Demand for safe, comfortable and manageable places to live was peaking, and would continue to do so right until 2045.
Meanwhile Ms Bennenbroek will be moving to Christchurch, where she plans to take some time for herself before deciding on her next career move. She will maintain links with the Village, however, as her mother is a cottage resident there.
“We thank Jan sincerely for her many years of dedicated and expert service, and we will miss her, but we know she’ll remain a part of the Village from wherever she is,” Ms Sumpter said.
