That’s a relief

- JOHN BASSETT Diggers’ Valley

What a great relief that CP has turned down my offer (No thanks, letters April 19). Now I can rest in peace, with my top-grade weed all to myself.

The debate about cannabis and all other things in life is about choice, be it legal or illegal, and no one other than ourselves is responsible for the choices we make. Therefore we take

responsibility for the outcomes of our actions.

Yes, life brings many hardships to many people, but the fact is we are born and we die, some very young, some very old and a lot in between, some of health problems, old age or accidents.

Whether cannabis is legal or illegal, as other drugs is not the answer to life’s problems, no matter how much research, goes into it. And who knows? Some of our present day problems could be a result of cannabis use, just like tobacco, alcohol and other drugs, whether legal or illegal.

No matter what one believes, this world’s problems are going to keep increasing, with or without cannabis, as funny money e.g. money that does not exist, only IOUs on paper continues to be repaid with interest, as the noose tightens around people’s necks.

If the Bible is a fairy tale, then very little hope is at hand for future generations.

So yes, I believe cannabis will become legal, along with many other drugs, and the world of zombies as we see on movies and TV will be our future, without the intervention of the Heavenly Father the Creator, and the promised return of Jesus Christ as our King, the one and only Saviour, that I can see as a cure to human woes facing this world.

Personally I prefer to put my hope and faith in Jesus Christ’s hands than in cannabis, but hey, that is my choice. CP and others have their choice. Who is right and who is wrong will one day become reality, but until then the debate will continue, for better or worse.

Deaths, disease, hardships etc will continue as we take our walk through life as billions have done before us, never finding a solution to the world’s problems through their choices.

I may be wrong, but I believe the answer is in the Bible, not politics, money or religion, but Christianity, obedience and love, with love the operative word, meaning compassion.
