Awanui 8 Ball led 5-3 (after the singles) versus Awaz Tigers 1 before going on to win 7-5; Waipap Gold taking a 7-5 loss at home against last year’s runners-up Awanui Titans (who led 5-3 at the turn); while the Houhora Marlins team beat Collards Back in Black by 7-5 (5-3).

Elsewhere, KA All Day were down 5-3 after the singles only to storm home and win 7-5 against the Boar Hunters; Collards Str8 Up and Awaz Tigers Two drew after Str8 Up were leading 5-3 but a fair result, local commentato­r Sharpshoot­er noted, following analysis of the score card. “So, some tight matches in that lot.” The biggest winning margins of the night were recorded by the KA Rebels — who achieved the surprise result of the evening — who emerged 8-4 winners against the Razorbacks (5-3 singles), and the All Hearts losing 9-3 to the more fancied Renegades (who led 7-1 after the singles) at Collards.

The first three of tonight’s games are being played at Awanui Sports Complex. Draw is, Herekino Razorbacks vs Awanui Titans*, Awaz Tigers 1* v Collards Back In Black, Awaz Tigers 2* vs Waipap Gold; KA Renegades* vs Awanui 8 Ball, KA All Day* vs Collards Str8 Up, Collards All Hearts vs KA Rebels*, Herekino Boar Hunters vs Houhora Marlins* (* indicating Sharpshoot­er’s picks as winners).
