Houhora Chiefs 7 Ahipara 8: The hosting Chiefs lost narrowly in a close contest with their southern rivals in Far North darts last Wednesday evening. Robbie Matthews and Rocky Manga led the scoring for the visitors while John McGovern hit the first 140, and Chiefs’ Kane Henderson hit the match HF 110. The Chiefs led 5/4 after the doubles but Ahipara however won the singles to take out the match.

RSA Pixies 0 The Park 15: The visitors showed no mercy and spearheade­d by a Rawden Petricevic­h 180 and his doubles partner Chris Bell threw the match HF of 93, while Pixies’ standout Sheryl Maafu threw the first 140.

Mussel Rock 15 RSA Wannabes 0: Favourites to make the final, and playing at home Mussel Rock were in imperious form throwing 47 100-plus scores led by Jamie Hilton Jones with 12, while Wannabes Mo Allen hit the match HF 63.

Waipapakau­ri 12 RSA Kauri 3: Waipap cleaned up in the singles, along with a John Marinkovic­h 180 and John Proctor leading the 100-plus scoring with 12, while Dan Job led the visitors scoring and hit the match HF of 88.

Squash Club 13 Awanui 2. The hosts applying home advantage with a Dave Travers match HF of 89 while Frank Roberts led the scoring for the visitors.

Draw tonight: Mission Impossible vs RSA Kauri, Tuatua Tavern vs Mussel Rock, Collards vs Waipapakau­ri, bye: Wannabes; Ahipara vs Awanui, Park vs Chiefs, Nomads vs Pixies, bye: Squash Club.

In other news, the Challenge Cup — between the three Northland associatio­ns of Far North, Bay of Islands and Taniwha — will be contested between the current holders, Far North (as the current holders) and Whanga¯reii at Awanui Hotel this Sunday.

Each side will field two teams on the day and the prediction is for some great darts from both the hosts and a strong Whanga¯rei team. All are welcome, with the action starting at 11am.
