Floral art’s dainty side well explored
Doubtless Bay Floral Art Club members produced colourful and dainty designs at their September gathering, working to the theme of a modern cascade design.
Margaret Aydon won the novice section, Carol Allison the intermediate section with Gael Black second and Kathy Graham third.
Jennifer Silcock, the only entrant in the senior section, was awarded second; unfortunately her design hit the floor just before judging, but, with a few tweaks, it was saved.
The bronze section was won by Dot Sykes, Tina Ewins and Shelley Wiblin second equal, Sharron Nicholas and Bev Rouse third equal.
A pot-luck lunch was shared to celebrate members’ spring birthdays.
Meanwhile four members will take part in the Northland Designer of the Year competition (‘Love it Here’) in Whanga¯ rei this month, alongside representatives of the other Northland clubs.
At this month’s meeting (10am at the St John hall, Cooper’s Beach, on Tuesday) members will be asked to produce a coastal collage, canvas or wallhanging, using collected items. Anyone who would like to be there will be most welcome — phone Sharron on (09) 406-0279 for more information.
