‘Massive’ haul

-

A joint Ministry for Primary Industries and police checkpoint in Taranaki uncovered a “massive” illegal haul of pa¯ua, according to MPI spokesman Jason Howat. The checkpoint, timed to coincide with low spring tides, issued a number of people with warnings and infringement notices for exceeding the daily limit of pa¯ua and kina, and for taking undersized pa¯ua, but what was “staggering” was the discovery of four people with 736 pa¯ua, 703 of which were undersized. A vehicle had been seized, and those involved would likely face serious charges.
