Flying mission at Doubtless Bay

-

St Andrew’s Anglican Church at Mangonui will welcome two candidates for the Mission Aviation Fellowship at its 9am service on Sunday, and is extending an open invitation to everyone who would like to be there.

Allcomers will also be welcome at a 10.35am service at the Doubtless Bay Community (Baptist) Church at Cooper’s Beach.

The prophet Isaiah was talking about those who hope in the Lord (Isa. 40:31) when he referred to ‘On wings like eagles,’ St Andrew’s congregation member Jan Vartan said.

“Perhaps we could say that those who serve the church of Christ through aviation are giving the wings to that prophecy in this day and age.

“One such group is Mission Aviation New Zealand, a member of the larger MAF International. Our church has supported the MAF-NZ organisation in a faithful way for some years. Last year Margaret Porter, Rhyll Sworn and Tim Cooper represented the church at a MAF fly-in in Kerikeri. This event renewed our interest in the work of MAF around the world.

“The church vestry would like to present to the congregation a way in which we as a church might become more directly involved in supporting the pilots and families who are providing these wings in the more remote parts of the world.

“The young couple who will be visiting us here in the Far North are capable, committed, and ready to serve; however, as MAF-NZ is a ‘faith mission,’ they are looking for Christian individuals and churches to partner with them through personal connection, continuing prayers and financial support.”
