Whangaroa club hosts Spring Open

WHANGAROA. Denise Pilbrow and Quin Butler topped the men’s and women’s divisions at the Mangonui Haulage Spring Open in Whangarao on Sunday.

Results were, ladies, gross: Denise Pilbrow 79, 1 (winner), Petrina Maddren 84, 2 (runner up), nett: Joy Moffat 64, Diane Collins 67, stableford: Lorraine Walter, Bertha Leslie, Jan Kay 39, Val Moffat 38; men, gross: Quin Butler 74, 1, Dave Nicholas 75, 2, nett: Stephen Tansey 62, John Jepson 63, stableford: Barry Carty 42, Bob Rouse, Bill Sherman and Nigel Dobson all 41, while Richard Stewart, Wally Shand, Paul Lovell and Joe Rogers all finished with 40.

There were 2s for Trudy Nikora, Petrina Maddren, Barry Carty, Nigel Dobson, John Jepson, Quin Butler, Bob Rouse and Rob Fabricius. Organisers also thanked the sponsors for their generosity.

On the domestic front, stableford scores by the Whangaroa women last Wednesday (October 10) were, Division 1: Bernadette Dobson 45, Bertha Leslie 42, Carol Boyed 38, Pam Weber 37, Division 2: Clara Lugnet 41, Jennifer Henry 36; with a 2 for B Leslie.
