Gearing up for grand finals tomorrow

Results from matches played in the Far North Darts sixes championsh­ip last Wednesday (October 17) were as follows.

Houhora Chiefs RSA 4 RSA Nomads 11: Some fantastic scoring seen from both teams in this match at Houhora where 56 100-plus scores were recorded but the Nomads blitzing the doubles and out-finishing the hosts. Standouts included Chiefs’ Bruce Hall who hit 11 100-plus scores and the first 140, while Nomads’ Keith Morris (Nomads) hit 180, a 102 for David Tepania, and a 104 and the match HF 120 for Ian Webb.

Mussel Rock 14 Rsa Kauri 1: The hosts far too precise in the penultimat­e match of the season as they continue tuning up for the looming finals. Graham Parker hit a 180 while Jamie Hilton-Jones top scored with 11 100-plus scores; for Kauri, Daniel Job top scored and Sam Ruke hit a two-dart 110 HF and won his singles game.

RSA Pixies 3 Kaitaia Squash Club 12: The visitors’ scoring was more consistent and they hit the doubles. Standouts were Jeffro Moore with the match HF 93, and Andrew Lovich with the night’s first 140.

The Park 14 Awanui 1: The Park hitting 37 100-plus scores and winning the close games in yet another one-sided result. All of the home team scored well, with Chris Silich hitting the match HF 97 while Nina Edwards and Frank Roberts played well for Awanui and took a great doubles win.

Elsewhere, Tuatua Tavern won via a default from the hosting Mission Impossible.

Tomorrow evening sees the finals of the sixes being played at the Far North RSA in Kaitaia starting at 7pm. All teams will be playing the same-placed finisher from the opposing group, with the grand final between Mussel Rock (Group 1 winner) and The Park (Group 2 winner).

Annual prizes and awards will be given out after the finals. All players and supporters were invited along to celebrate the end of a great season, with everyone planning on turning up asked to bring a plate for the pot luck dinner.
