Troopers face wind and rain in Memorial

-

Despite wet and cold conditions prevailing for the Noah Hickey Memorial at the Oruru Bowling Club earlier this month, 12 teams braved the elements and trooped on.

A report from organisers noted the rain was heavy first thing in the morning for the event on Tuesday, November 12, resulting in a late start.

Players eventually got out on the green, then returned indoors for a hearty meal after two games before carrying on in the face of the inclement conditions.

Winners were Alan and Lyn Larkin with Dennis Lattimer, while runners-up were Rowdy, Colin and Rick and third were John M, Barbara and Fae.

It was noted the organisers appreciated the support on the day following concerted efforts to keep the club on the Far North bowling scene.

“We have spent a lot of time getting greens up to scratch and they are looking good. Again thank you, bowlers, for your support and your stamina,” said a club organiser.
