Kaikohe gets RSA tour­na­ment

■ The Kaikohe & Dis­tricts RSA Women’s Sec­tion re­cently hosted the North­land Dis­tricts RSA an­nual bowls tour­na­ment in Kaikohe.

A re­port from the an­nual event noted there was not as large a field as hoped for, but those who did par­take en­joyed them­selves, and were re­warded with the Far North turn­ing on an­other fine day.

With teams from the Far North RSA, North­ern Wairoa, Opononi and the host­ing club par­tic­i­pat­ing, the even­tual win­ners were the last minute fill-in team of Jeanette Smith, Natalie Brown and Earani Col­ley from Kaikohe with 3 wins, 20 ends, 46 points for/ 19 points against; while Opononi’s Lil­lian Cairns, Linda Fowlie and Lynn Adams fin­ished run­ners-up with 3, 18, 33/23.

The Kaikohe RSA Women’s sec­tion thanked the Kaikohe Bowl­ing Club for the use of their fa­cil­i­ties. Also ac­knowl­edged were bar­man Dion, green­keeper Tom and other mem­bers for the cater­ing, along with Graeme Suther­land and two lo­cal busi­nesses for spon­sor­ing the event.
