-

■ The Kaikohe & Districts RSA Women’s Section recently hosted the Northland Districts RSA annual bowls tournament in Kaikohe.

A report from the annual event noted there was not as large a field as hoped for, but those who did partake enjoyed themselves, and were rewarded with the Far North turning on another fine day.

With teams from the Far North RSA, Northern Wairoa, Opononi and the hosting club participating, the eventual winners were the last minute fill-in team of Jeanette Smith, Natalie Brown and Earani Colley from Kaikohe with 3 wins, 20 ends, 46 points for/ 19 points against; while Opononi’s Lillian Cairns, Linda Fowlie and Lynn Adams finished runners-up with 3, 18, 33/23.

The Kaikohe RSA Women’s section thanked the Kaikohe Bowling Club for the use of their facilities. Also acknowledged were barman Dion, greenkeeper Tom and other members for the catering, along with Graeme Sutherland and two local businesses for sponsoring the event.
