life ex­pe­ri­ences, be­cause we want them to ap­pre­ci­ate other cul­tures and be grate­ful for what they have. Our aim is to raise strong and con­fi­dent in­di­vid­u­als that will con­trib­ute to so­ci­ety in a pos­i­tive way.

Our fam­ily loves fish­ing, div­ing, camp­ing and the beach. We have wha¯ nau land at Ship­wreck Bay and spend our sum­mer out there. My kids and hus­band love it; they all surf. To me, that land is spe­cial. It is the land of my great grand­par­ents, Bow­man and Mate Yates, who left it to their chil­dren, his grand­chil­dren, and now his great grand­chil­dren. It’s a gen­er­a­tional place, for my nana, my mum, me and now my kids. It’s home.
