The Northland Age

Dear Far North

-

Our motto for hospice is ‘Living every Moment.’ That is something that we try to bring each day at Far North Community Hospice for the patients and their families. The service that Hospice provides touches not only our patients but also their families and friends.

It is a humbling experience and a privilege meeting people’s needs at the most challenging time of their lives.

I am writing on behalf of Far North Community Hospice to say a big thank you to the community, and Kaitaia and surrounding business community, for your kind generosity and support for the Far North Community Hospice in 2018. Thank you for supporting us.

Some of the highlights for us have been seeing you dressed in gold supporting Go for Gold – Walk for Life six km walk of the Te Houtaewa Challenge. We loved seeing you chatting to the Tractor Trek drivers, the children climbing over the tractors, eating a tuatua fritter, Snow’s angels, the Shak Pack, exhausted runners and jubilation at the end of the race, and Izzie the clown chatting to all and sundry, the car rally and jubilation at finishing the rally, putting a star on the Remembrance Tree in Farmers,’ at Te Ahu or at the Santa Parade, buying some treasures at our Take 2 Hospice shop.

We are privileged to live where such a diversity of events is offered. May it continue.

The Far North communities and businesses have always supported us in many ways. We do rely on the generosity of the community to help us continue the care and support of those who need it.

‘Life is short, but for our patient’s life is shorter.’

Hospice touches many lives and families, and the service that we offer is free to these patients and families.

Thank you for helping us continue this service.

From the team at Far North Community Hospice, we extend to you and your families a big thank you and best wishes for Christmas and New Year. MARGARET TOLLADAY
