The Tax­pay­ers’ Union said the min­i­mum wage in­crease would dev­as­tate busi­nesses in the re­gions, ex­ec­u­tive di­rec­tor Jor­dan Williams say­ing $17.70 for low-skilled work­ers straight out of high school in small town New Zealand wasn’t fea­si­ble. “Deny­ing those young peo­ple op­por­tu­ni­ties to get em­ployed by pric­ing them out of the mar­ket is a moral dis­grace,” he said.
