The Taxpayers’ Union said the minimum wage increase would devastate businesses in the regions, executive director Jordan Williams saying $17.70 for low-skilled workers straight out of high school in small town New Zealand wasn’t feasible. “Denying those young people opportunit­ies to get employed by pricing them out of the market is a moral disgrace,” he said.
