Paraglider injured

An experienced paraglider was rescued by boat and taken to Bay of Islands Hospital with a suspected broken leg after a flight at Russell went badly wrong on Thursday. The man reportedly flew the length of Long Beach before crashing on rocks near Tapeka Pt. Constable Mike Gorrie said he was lifted on to an inflatable boat, then transferred to a Rawhiti-based water taxi, and finally to an ambulance that was waiting at the Waitangi jetty.
