Surf Life Saving NZ, Coastguard and Water Safety NZ are urging those heading for beaches, rivers, lakes and swimming pools over summer to beware the Swim Reaper. “Have a discussion about water safety, visit www.watersafety.org.nz, and do a refresher on staying safe in all our different aquatic environments,” Water Safety CEO Jonty Mills said. “If you’re going on holiday with small children, check properties for water hazards and make sure pool gates and latches are in good working order. However the only fool-proof solution is constant active adult supervision and keeping toddlers at arm’s length at all times around water.”
