Sculpture too

A Bay of Islands hapu¯ is hoping to erect a sculpture at the top of Bulls Gorge, on SH10, in tandem with the construction of the longawaited roundabout at Waipapa. Te Haa o te Ao (The Breath of the World), designed by renowned Kerikeri sculptor Chris Booth, would serve as a welcome to Kerikeri/ Waipapa and as a symbol of local efforts to combat climate change. Te Runanga o Nga¯ti Rehia trustee Nora Rameka told Regional Economic Development Minister Shane Jones and visiting NZTA representatives at last week’s blessing of the roundabout site that hapu¯ had raised some of the money needed but had some way to go, and suggested it be incorporated into the roundabout project.
