Rappers kick tour off at Te Ahu

-

Rising Auckland-based rap sensation Church & AP begin a nine-venue tour of the upper North Island at Te Ahu in Kaitaia tomorrow 6pm), followed by Kerikeri’s Turner Centre on Thursday (8.30pm), tickets $15 at the door.

Described as one of the most exciting acts to emerge in New Zealand in recent years, the teens (aged 18 and 19) are embarking on the tour (with South Island and lower North Island dates yet to be announced) after launching new single, Ready or Not, on streaming platforms and radio. Their debut EP, THOROUGH BREAD, was described by tastemaker blog Sniffers as “an authentically Auckland observation of young Kiwi culture” and “right on the money.”

The pair came together as a duo by taking part in community hall music programmes in Mount Roskill and Te Atatu.

From there, critics say, their distinctive, self-assured blend of southern/UK rap fused with grime has “done all the talking,” with songs such as their social media hit Introvert winning fans from the ground up.

Now they were inviting their Kiwi fans to be part of their journey, the tour being all about saying thanks to those who had been there from the beginning.
