Concert immortalised on video

-

There was standing room only at last year’s Switzer Residential Care Christmas concert, but those who couldn’t be there need not miss out. Those who were there also now have the chance to see it as many times as they would like.

Narrator and major instigator Barbara Sobey said a professional photographer had been commissioned to record the concert. The resulting short video, now available on USB stick for $11.50, could be ordered or collected from the rest home office, or mailed (until Tuesday next week).

“It would be worth investing in a copy for your descendants to see in a hundred years’ time,” Mrs Sobey said. “I’d love to see my mother dancing the Charleston in her youth, with her long hair newly cut to ear-lobe length and her dress above her knees, or my redhaired father swimming across the Thames at London Bridge for a bet in 1926.”

Neither of those exploits featured in the concert, but there was more than enough to enchant generations of descendants to come.
