Got some time for SPCA?

-

The SPCA is looking for volunteers throughout the country to collect donations during this year’s annual appeal.

Volunteers will be needed over March 4-10 to collect muchneeded funds for sick, abandoned and abused animals, the society saying signing up for two hours of collecting could make a lifetime of difference for neglected and injured animals nationwide.

Pets will be welcome to join in; dogs, goats, horses, even a llama and a chicken have accompanied their owners in the past, and have done a very good job of encouraging donations.

The society helps to protect more than 40,000 animals every year, and relies entirely on the generosity of the community to continue that work.

It is the only New Zealand charity entrusted to uphold animal welfare law, and has the power to prosecute. “Donations help our inspectors rescue animals, give them love, care, provide a warm bed at SPCA shelters, give them critical medicine and veterinary support, and help them find new homes with their loving forever families,” the spokesman added.
