The heaviest snapper of the day and first prize went to junior Meiki Heka who reeled in an impressive 9.28kg specimen. Other placegette­rs were, Ben Waaka 4.66kg trevally (heaviest) 2; junior visitor Crystal Yates 2.05kg kahawai (heaviest) 3; Dave Lloyd 8.11kg snapper 4; Wayne Newcombe 3.79kg trevally 5; junior Michael Brown 2.01kg kahawai 6; Gareth McKenzie 7.45kg snapper 7; junior Daithi Parlour 3.77kg, 8; junior Oscar Parlour 1.96kg kahawai 9; and visitor Todd Warmington 6.92kg snapper 10; with Matt Becker taking out the haggle of 4kg with a 4kg snapper.

The sponsors provided a welcome barbecue of chops and sausages along with drawn prizes for both senior and junior club members as well as visitors. ■ The club’s next field day for the Workman Tankard (for the heaviest weight of fish weighed in by a club member on the day) is this Sunday.
