The NZ Foot­ball’s Girls and Women’s Week for 2019 will be cel­e­brated in North­land from this Fri­day, Fe­bru­ary 15, to Sun­day, Fe­bru­ary 24. Ac­tiv­i­ties the North­land Foot­ball Fed­er­a­tion will run dur­ing this time in­clude the Fe­male Only Com­mu­nity Based Ref­eree Course at Tikipunga next Tues­day, Fe­bru­ary 19, from 6 to 8pm; and the Girls Only ‘Let’s Play’ Fes­ti­val (fun games and ac­tiv­i­ties for 7 to 12 year olds) also at Tikipunga on Satur­day, Fe­bru­ary 23, from 9 to 10am. The lat­ter event will be held in con­junc­tion with the Women’s Only 7-a-side Tour­na­ment fea­tur­ing so­cial and com­pet­i­tive grades from 10am. In other NFF news, Em­manuel Darkwa is run­ning a Comet up­date work­shop from 6pm7pm to­mor­row (Wed­nes­day, Fe­bru­ary 13) at the St John Am­bu­lance Sta­tion meet­ing room on Kerik­eri Road. This will in­clude up­dates on the new ‘Com­mu­ni­ca­tor’ area of COMET and the an­swer­ing of any other ques­tions which any­one might have be­fore the sea­son starts. The event of­fers a great op­por­tu­nity to talk to Em­man face-to-face as regis­tra­tions get into full swing and clear up any is­sues or con­cerns which clubs may have. Any clubs un­able to send some­body along are ad­vised to let the NFF know.
