New clubs do the trick

A new set of golf clubs resulted in a much improved performance by Richard Thompson, who took out the Wednesday 9-hole haggle on Waitangi Day from Ivor Bates and Glenys Rogers.

Thompson also won Sunday’s club competition with 67 nett followed again by Bates on 71 and Brian King third on 77.

In other news, the club’s pennants team was narrowly defeated by Okaihau in the first round of the provincial tournament at Whangaroa on Saturday.
