Kohukohu There is an air of expectancy and jubilation among the ratepayers and residents of upper O¯ kahu Road in Kaitaia.

There has been considerable activity of heavy machinery, vehicles and people focused on 0.8km of O¯ kahu Road. Official

news has come through that the unsealed portion of this scenic road is to be sealed thus joining the loop of unsealed O¯ kahu Road with the north-east sealed portion.

Considerable history lies behind the patience, regular requests, logical thinking, communications, surveys

spanning 18 years.

As the representative of the ratepayers’ and residents’ group I have a dossier covering 18 years of submissions containing some remarkably pertinent points for the completion of this road.

With jubilation, we will celebrate the occasion with a street party in a simple form — BYO etc etc.

Councillor Mate Radich will join us. Guests will receive a flyer with the necessary information.

"Sometimes ‘letters’ are more like short stories, which can become boring, with the writer using three words when one would do. And trying to promote themselves, or their case. But letters are like life-blood to a newspaper, and should be encouraged."
