Go Green awards dinner is sold out

-

The inaugural Far North Go Green Awards will not be presented until Thursday March 28, but already the charity dinner, at Russell’s Duke of Marlborough Hotel, has sold out.

Late last week Russell Recyclers were talking to the hotel management in the hope of finding room for some extra tables.

Entries to the Trash to Trendy Treasure Recycled Fashion Award had also been closed earlier than anticipated, with a maximum field of 11 contestants already registered to display 13 garments.

Go Green awards will be presented in four categories — Green Good Idea, Outstanding Citizen, Outstanding Company or Organisation and Outstanding School. A total of 21 nominees have made the shortlists, including, from Kaitaia and surrounds, Warren Snow (Kiwi Bottle Drive and Kaitaia Eco Centre), Sera Grubb (E-bins and Mana Kai Honey, Awanui), Far North REAP, Cliff Colquhoun (CBEC) and Kaitaia Intermediate School.

One of the category winners will also win the supreme award.

Mayor John Carter will MC the Go Green awards, and Aisla Murray the recycled fashion award.
