Tuesday night’s 1 News report on claims that the Government’s ban on oil and gas exploration would cost the economy $28 billion over the next 30 years put that figure into context by saying it could build 22 hospitals, a similar number of schools, or 43 KiwiBuild houses in Auckland. A Northland Age reader suggested that that might explain why few are keen to buy the ‘affordable’ houses, although the graphic might have been missing a few noughts.
