Tango lessons in Rawene

-

London dance teacher Tony Lane will be back in Rawene on Friday and Saturday, to bestow the benefit of more than 20 years’ experience at an Argentine tango workshop.

Tango, Tony said, was a journey of exploration that could be developed as much or as little as suited each individual for the rest of their life.

The workshop, hosted by the Rawene Dance Club at the town hall, will be open to dancers of all levels, , from beginners to advanced.

The three-hour Friday session will start at 6pm (registration $15), resuming on Saturday, 2pm-5.30pm ($20), followed by a shared potluck dinner at 6pm and a Milonga (a Saturday night of Argentine Tango dancing), free for those who attend on Saturday afternoon, $20 for others.

Tony, who lived in Kaikohe for some time, returns every few years, sharing his passion for dance with the local community and throughout New Zealand.

Contact the Rawene Dance Club via Facebook or phone (0210) 267-3517. The Blood Service will be at the RSA in Kaitaia tomorrow (10.30am-4.30pm) and Thursday (8.30am-2.30pm), and will be relying on its local donors to turn out in force.

It is also hoping to enlist new donors, who will need to be aged between 16 and 70, and in good health. Anyone who has a cold, flu, a sore throat, cold sore, stomach bug or any other infection should wait until next time.

Those who have been to a dentist for a minor procedure must wait 24 hours before giving blood, or a month after major work.

Donors new and old will need to produce identification displaying their full name, photograph, date of birth and/or home address.

Donors under the age of 25 must weigh at least 50kg, and must not have had a tattoo or body piercing within the previous four months.

Blood may be taken 12 hours after a body piercing by a registered health professional as long as any inflammation has completely disappeared.

All donors must have eaten within four hours of giving blood.
