Bay girl named in national squad

-

A Far North player has been named in the wider Netball New Zealand secondary schools squad of 22 players for 2019.

Danielle-Rose Dephoff, a Year 13 student at Bay of Islands College, admitted to feeling a little surprised about making the extended squad from 50 players selected to attend a development camp at Cambridge last month.

“It felt really good when I was named. I was a little scared before going to the January camp but I really liked it and want to do something like it again,” she said, noting she hoped to be in the running when the final team is announced at the end of April.

Dephoff intends to keep improving and enjoying her netball. She hopes to play in the Beko League in the future and go all the way to play in the ANZ championship.

“I’m excited about my achievements so far and what my netball future could be.”
