Mangonui duo Hamish Wilton and Scott Tracey continued the form which has taken their boat, Pist’n Broke, to the top of the 300 class in the latest leg of the national powerboat series at Whitianga on Saturday. In a brief report from the day’s racing, Wilton noted the conditions were summery with an estimated 20-knot breeze and a 1.5 to 2m swell and saw the Far North pair finishing second in the day’s first race (by only 50m) then going on to win the second race. “They were trying conditions out there with the races being run at close to low tide and a sandbar had formed out on one part of course prior to race day causing water to stand up and be very messy and hard to read. All in all good day,” Wilton said, noting there was some damage to the boat but the plan was to have it all fixed to race in round 4/7 at Napier on March 16.
