Time to lock up

Kaitaia police are warning people to lock up after a spike in burglaries in the last week. Senior Sergeant Russell Richards said there were six burglaries in Kaitaia, the majority from residential houses. People need to make it harder for thieves to break in and they should call 111 if they see anything suspicious, he said. Police are also investigating a theft on Coopers Beach Four Square last Wednesday night, when cigarettes were taken.
