The New Zealand Dental Association is renewing calls for a sugary drink tax. In the US, a tax led to a 50 per cent fall in sugary drink consumption in the Californian city of Berkeley.Cutting consumption reduced harm, spokesman Dr Rob Beaglehole said. “As dentists we see first-hand the damage caused to teeth from over-consumption of sugary drinks.”
