HUMANS OF KAITAIA

-

By Brian Lunjevich

I’m Brian Lunjevich and I run an antique shop. I keep myself busy in the shop, fixing things and restoring things, I’m currently working on two big picture frames.

I’ve got three children, two sons and a daughter, who all live in Kaitaia. My grandfather came over in a ship in 1902 and we’ve been here ever since.

I live at Shipwreck Bay in Ahipara. Each day I look forward to heading home to the beach and relaxing.

Life can be a challenge, as soon as you think everything is good, something will come along and ‘boof ya’. I think most of us are like that. I tend to put the challenges aside and hope they come right, but that’s not the right way to deal with them, I know. When you’ve got so much on your mind it’s hard to deal with everything.

My family mean the most to me — my children, I love them all. They put me in my place — they’re all nice people, they’re like friends to me. My mother is special to me and my wife, of course! These are the people that mean the most to me.

I think life should just go along with everybody feeling happy.

There’s no place for negative things or putting people down. I’ve been in my shop for 27 and half years now, and I have learned that we get back what we give.
