-

Gwenyth Cossey’s 30 years of active support for Riding for the Disabled in Kaitaia was celebrated recently.

Gwenyth joined Kaitaia RDA in 1989, and attended a preliminary instructor’s course the following year.

Highlights since then included helping prepare one of the riders for the Special Olympics in Minneapolis, US, in 1991, and riding with Sir Howard Morrison in the 1992 Variety Bash.

Treasurer Christine Laing said she had been instrumental in developing children’s programmes, fundraising and helping the organisation to procure its Church Rd property in 1998.

In 2015 Gwenyth was named NZRDA Volunteer of the Year.

“She is a cheerful and tireless worker who new volunteers can learn a lot from, and we hope she continues for many years to come,” Christine added. Gwenyth Cossey with her very special cake.
