No CGT

There is little support for Capital Gains Tax on assets given to iwi through Treaty of Waitangi settlements. In response to a Northland Age Facebook poll, 61 per cent said no to tax while 39 per cent said yes. Sir Michael Cullen warns that iwi receiving commercial property, forestry and other assets could be taxed. This week’s poll asks if the Far North is a tolerant community.
