On March 28, classical music lovers will get to hear a world premie`re performance in Kerikeri, delivered by some of Australasia’s most senior musicians, the Pettman Ensemble. Beethoven’s Pastoral Symphony No. 6 in F major, Op. 68 will be presented in a quartet version arranged by Mozart’s foremost student Johann Nepomuk Hummel. Newly edited after extensive research by NZ flautist Uwe Grodd, the work will be performed at the Turner Centre by the Pettman Ensemble, featuring Grodd, pianist Michael Endres, violinist Curt Thompson and Edith Salzmann on cello. Grodd said “the arrangement is stunning and all the energetic or beautiful pastoral scenes are so colourful and captivating”. Tickets to the event available now through the Turner Centre’s website.
