No escape

Police apprehended a 30-year-old Kaitaia man on Sunday night after a pursuit that proceeded from Kaitaia’s main street to Ahipara then north on 90 Mile Beach. The fleeing driver, who had come to attention because of his speed, bogged his car when he tried to exit the beach via a forest road, and was pursued on foot before being apprehended. He has been charged with failing to stop, dangerous driving, refusing blood and driving while disqualified.
