Just do something meaningful

-

So Kiwi school kids etc., including some as young as three years old, were recently marching in protest about climate change, guided by teachers and politicians, and all no doubt fully indoctrinated under the current education system.

Well no one denies them their right to march, but to protest against what and to who exactly is a mystery — we have an ideological socialist government which is already onside with the manmade climate change zealot brigade, so who is this little charade supposed to send a message to exactly?

The only message it sends to me is that you have kids who can ill afford to be absent from school and teachers guiding them (presumably being paid) during a normal weekday, and I resent my taxpayer dollars being spent on this bunfight.

Why didn’t these tortured souls protest on a weekend, or during the school holidays, at their own cost?

I leave that question for readers to solve for themselves although the answer looks pretty obvious.

Also, why don’t this bunch do something meaningful that may make a difference by travelling to Beijing, Mumbai, Jakarta or South America and protest in countries where they are, it seems, building coal-fired power plants quicker than you can blink — once again the answer should be obvious.

That sort of approach should fit the inane PC brigade credo, “We want action now”.

In conclusion of course we should all do what we can to protect the environment in a practical way, but let’s be realistic and keep our feet on the ground, and not go baying at the moon. After all, we don’t have a direct line to Mother Nature. ROB PATERSON
