Tuis put best foot forward

-

The Northland Tuis proudly joined 80 teams for the 2019 Leisure Marching Nationals in Hamilton earlier this month. More than 1000 women, in teams from all over the country, took part, the event appropriately coinciding with International Women’s Day.

Lesley Haslar said the Northland Tuis did a good job of representing the region, despite losing Barbara Holmes to a foot injury.

It was hoped she would be back in the team before the next display day in a few months.

The event was staged at Claudelands Auditorium, whose unique C-shaped stage, the only one in Australasia, ensure that everyone had the best seat in the house.

The event finished with a Maze March, involving all of the teams saluting the main stand as they passed by, Lesley saying it had prompted lots of laughter and comments, a great way to finish two days of marching and working together.
