Freemasons still keen to help out
The glory days might be over, but the Mangonui Kaitaia Lodge Freemasons are still keen to do good deeds in their community, recent beneficiaries including Kaitaia’s Hospice Shop, which has been given a new cash register.
Staff there had been using the new till, incorporating a new eftpos system — “The whole kit and caboodle,” according to Freemason Roy Scahill — for some time when he and Garry Larsen officially presented it, and had had time to catch up with the significant leap in technology.
“We’re getting the hang of it, sort of,” Gaye Rossouw said.
